Stitching, stitching, stitching

Share

I have cast aside the computer in the evenings and been working on several new projects. I’m working on sketches for a new chair (a Crazy Quilt seat will be included) and watching a bunch of silly TV.I’ve also been working hard to get my Brazilian embroidery piece completed. The other side looks similar, but [...]

Blogging Daily – here or other places

Share

My dear friend Dianna, whom I love for her candor, recently pointed out that she would love my blog so much more if I posted daily! What’s funny is I do post somewhere daily – just not always here. So, I thought it might be helpful if I point out the last couple of days [...]

More Brazilian flower progress

Share

We just got back from a short (but really fun) trip around Colorado – so more photos to come. However, I wanted to share the results of my second Brazilian embroidery class with you. Here’s the progress on one side of the caddy: Here’s a close up of the daisy – with a whopping 45 [...]

Brazillian Embroidery class and examples

Share

So, finally, these little blow up shots for my brazillian embroidery class. First is this nifty little flower made from bullion knots.

Bullions look really complicated, but are fairly simple – a good diagram is here: http://inaminuteago.com/stitchdict/stitch/Bullion.html (however, I do it slightly different – I’ll have to do a tutorial at some point!).

Here’s [...]

Keeping crafty busy and work busy

ShareI’m here. I’m really here and I’m working – both at “work” and at my crafty stuff. The big news is I’m taking a Brazillian embroidery class this weekend (it’s actually two weekends) and being the “rebel” that I am, I went and picked out my own threads. The project is supposed to be very [...]

My thanks – a tour around the web

Share

Thanks everyone for your support of my post yesterday. Now that I have it all out (writing is good for the soul), I’m less ticked off about it and ready to move on – but everyone’s comments and suggestions were great (here and on Facebook) so thanks!

So, I was reading my morning smattering of [...]

A toe tapper and some tutorials (if you don’t have enough to do!)

Share

Saw this on Drawn this morning (the song is awesome and the art is even better) and thought you all might enjoy it.

Then there are some great tutorials I’ve collected and since I’m not done with my “update” post, here is a great French Knot Tutorial from Sublime Stitching plus a fabulous (and [...]

Piggy progress and a bit of interlacing

Share

So, I played with some interlacing: It isn’t quite like the stitch I was trying to replicate, but I found that was a bit chunky for this delicate stitch (you can click on the picture and zoom in if you’re curious). I like it – and my daugher is proud that she picked the colors [...]

I’m such a princess!

Share

So, this weekend was interesting. I was SO excited to finish piecing my pig, work on my student piece for Susan Sorrel and generally geek out in the fiber/beading/embroidery world and I froze. Ugh.

I totally do NOT understand Sulky, Stabelizer, anything that washes out, anything that should transfer (do I need to go on?). [...]

Now that’s a “scream”
